  1. HTML as a MIME subtype had been waiting on a stable HTML spec to
  2. present to the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (the people who
  3. keep track of such names).

  5. I am lead to belive that the 'html.dtd' document type definition for
  6. files according to the SGML standard has been successfully processed
  7. by a commercial SGML package (SoftQuad Author/Editor).  I'd encourage
  8. people to try out other SGML systems (if necessary by posting stuff
  9. to comp.text.sgml) and verify that we have the bugs shaken out, then
  10. approach IANA with the spec.
